Saving a medical practice means supporting a whole region

Through its social support programme, HBS enabled a local medical practice in the Jura vaudois to find the funding needed to continue its activity.

Saving a medical practice means supporting a whole region

When a medical practice closes in a small municipality, it is not just a business that disappears: hundreds of patients, families, elderly people and people with reduced mobility lose their local doctor and must travel kilometres for a consultation.

At a time when the next generation of doctors is sorely lacking in outlying regions, every practice counts. That is why, when a general internal medicine practice established for several years in the Jura vaudois faced a funding need that threatened the continuity of its operation, HBS activated its social support programme.

Our commitment: to take active steps, calls, meetings, presentations, within our network to identify a financial partner, with regular and transparent follow-up reports given to the family concerned.

After several weeks of prospecting, successfully redirected towards relevant contacts, a financial partner was identified and the terms validated between the parties. The practice can now look to the future with confidence and continue to care for its patients.

This case illustrates our deep conviction: supporting our regional doctors means defending access to care for all and the vitality of our municipalities. The health system does not rest on its hospitals alone; it rests first on the women and men who, every day, open the door of their practice in the heart of our villages.
